Support Bay View
John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
A reminder of the Holocaust
Now that Scott Walker is Governor of the State of Wisconsin and the Republicans have taken over both the State House of Representatives and the State Senate, they seem to want to create new laws to destroy many of the old laws established in the past. With high speed and reckless actions, they are destroying all that we have now. With that thought in mind, I remembered something that Pastor Niemoeller wrote during the time of Nazi Germany about the things that were happening before his own eyes. He was an anti-Nazi and spoke his mind. Because of his words and actions, he ended up being thrown into a concentration camp until released by the American troups in 1945. He continued as a German pastor after the war.

Because the Republicans are out of control now, what is going to happen next? This statement of Pastor Niemoeller reminds me of what is happening now in Madison, Wisconsin. Normally I do not lean toward any political party, but what is happening now is contrary to our American beliefs. Nothing should be forced on the people without the people being given a voice in these matters. We are the people and we have a right to protect our interests. Support our Democratic politicians to restore balance in our state government. Let the people be given a chance to partake in our government policies. We do not want history to repeat itself in a negative manner. We do not need a dictator as a governor. God Bless the U.S.A.
