Badgerland Striders to Host Half-Marathon April 9th
Attention runners! The Badgerland Striders will be hosting their annual South Shore Half-Marathon on Saturday, April 9th!
I am very excited for this year's run. My son and I are running it together. I should say we are starting it together. I will not be able to keep up with him for the whole race. But we will get to spend some quality father-son time both before and after the race. I introduced my son to running and it is something we both enjoy.
A half-marathon is a great distance for a serious recreational runner. Someone once said, "A half-marathon is the longest race a person can run and still go home and mow the grass". The distance is 13.1 miles and is exactly one-half the distance of a full marathon.
The course starts at South Shore Park, runs through Bay View Park, Sheridan Park, Warnimont Park and Grant Park, then reverses direction and runs back to the starting point. Thank God for our beautiful County Parks. Without these parks this race would be dangerous and probably impossible.
