Showdown in Madison / MSOE Chili Contest
What an amazing week this has been! The demonstrations in Madison to protest Governor Scott Walker's budget proposals have surprised everyone. What a historic time! Although I have never been a member of a labor union I do support the right of employees to negotiate and I support them on a moral basis.
Yes, our state is faced with unprecedented financial challenges and it makes sense to ask public employees to shoulder a greater portion of their pension and health-care costs. But that sacrifice should be negotiated and those employees should retain the right to collective bargaining. That is a basic right of employees in this country ( at least I thought it was .... ).
