He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
During Lent, we try to give up some of our favorite things and do not eat meat on Fridays. Self sacrifice is a part of Lent. We honor our Savior who went through his passion at this time. He fasted for 40 days in the desert. He began His mission to promote our salvation. He went from place to place to preach and heal people. After the chief priests and scribes protested about His teaching, they sought to have Him arrested as a common criminal to face justice in the form of the Roman governor Pontius Pilot and a hearing before the chief priest and scribes council. He also was taken before King Herod. While in custody, He was mocked and tortured. He was eventually sent by Pontius Pilot to be crucifed on a cross until dead. After three days, He arose from his grave and presented himself to his disciples. He ascended to Heaven and later gave his disciples the Holy Spirit at Penecost. They were then able to perform miracles and speak in many languages. He gave His disciples instruction to spread the Word to all nations. We share in His mission when we ourselves give up something special to us in memory of His Passion and honoring Him as we do it. Have a special Lenten season and go to church and learn of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
