John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Crimes in the neighborhood
Recently we have some crimes in Bay View. Assaults on people. Garage break-ins. House burglaries. What has happened to our home neighborhood? It never used to be like this. Some people are afraid to go out at night. Our cars, lawn mowers, snow blowers, garden equipment, auto needs, and things are no longer safe at our homes. The thieves have no sense of guilt about this activitity. They seem to need money for their drugs. Honest people are now in jeopardy. What are the police doing about this activity? People have been assaulted inside of Humboldt Park. What has happened to our Bay View community? Maybe you can answer this question.
