We are now in the Labor Day weekend. Take the time to think of the people in our past who struugled to obtain the 8-hour work-day, workmen's compensation, unemployment compensation, overtime pay on the job, and vacation time. These things did not just happen. It took the hard work of many people to obtain these things. Our local unions were key agents in this development. We should thank our union members and their leaders for doing this hard work.
Enjoy this weekend, for regular school days are upon us. The Summer vacation is over, and now we must get back to doing things as we normally do. Consider joining your children's school PTA or becoming a tutor, or an aide during children's recess and lunch period. Take part in your's children's education and they will greatly appreciate this action when they get older. A family that plays together, stays together.
Please support the Bay View community.
