John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
On Monday, June 4, 2012, the June meeting of the Bay View Historical Society will be held at 7 pm at the Beulah Brinton Commuity Center at 2555 S. Bay St. in Bay View. You are all welcome to attend this meeting. See bayviewhistoricalsociety.org for further information.
Every Wednesday in June, there will be a meeting at 7 pm in the Humboldt Park Pavilion for the Bay View Historical Society. We need some new volunteers who may be interested in planning and helping us with our Independence Day celebration. We have being doing this since 1910 and over the years, many people have volunteered and staffed our organization. New input is welcome. All interested people are requested to come to these meetings to see what it is all about. Everybody has a say as to how we do things. Please consider joining us at our meetings.
Today we are holding the recall election of Governor Scott Walker. You are the one who decides if he stays in office or is replaced by Tom Barrett. If everybody took the time to vote, then the true public opinion will be revealed, not the B.S. that we read and hear about in the news media. The power of the vote is one of the most important rights that we have. Use it wisely.
On Saturday,June 16, we will have the return of the South Shore Farmers Market. From 8 am to 12 noon, the market will be open with over 40 vendors. There will be an educational program and a musical program each week at the South Shore Farmers Market. There are three bakeries, several coffee locations, crepes, kettle corn, homemade candy, fresh mushrooms, regular farmers and organic farmers, smoothies, honey, maple syrup and other interesting items. There are some picnic tables in the park. Dogs are welcome in the park, but you must have them on a leash and clean-up after them. This is rated as the best farmers market in Milwaukee. Y'all come and join us there.
Over the last several weeks, we have heard some of the biggest lies from all of the political candidates. If luck follows through, Scott Walker will be indited as well as many of his co-workers while he was Milwaukee County Executive. There is just too much data out there to be found. Smooth lies were his method of delivering his speeches. Lack of mentioning how he did some of his budget balancing. Not mentioning that many of his so called jobs that were created were part-time or low paying jobs with no benefits. No mentioning how many corporations got special benfits of laws to help them out at the expense of schools and the elderly. Failing to inform the people of all of the truth concerning his methods of operation are normal for him. Time will tell us the truth of all of this.

Now that Summer vacation has begun from school activities, you have to be careful while driving your car. Many children like to run out into the roadway with out warning. Please be observant and protect both them and you. It migh be your child or grandchild that is running out into the roadway. Have a very safe Summer and enjoy your children as they relax from school activities. A family that plays together, stays together. Please support the Bay View community.
In Milwaukee, our weather is unpredictable. Be ready for any kind of conditions. Thunder storms and tornados can come at any time. Be alert and drive with caution. If it gets unsafe to drive due to weather conditions, then pull over into the nearest parking lot and wait out the storm. Oil from automobiles on the road can make driving on the road slippery. Drive with caution as your life depends on this. Make it home in one piece and your family will be very happy. Do not panic or try to speed in a rain storm. You can easily lose control of your car while driving.
Have a great Summer and relax with your family. Let your children burn up all of that penned up energy and let them play with their friends in a safe location. If your children are young, then one parent should be near your children when they are playing outdoors or indoors. Watch out if it gets too hot outside. Protect your children at all times.

On these very hot days, we could almost hope that a cold spell will come soon. The heat tends to drain our energy. It also becomes harder to breathe in hot weather. The dog does not like to stay outside for long. He wants to return to the cool inside to lay down and rest. We can't change the weather, but we can learn to adjust to it. We have to take one day at a time, and treat it as a gift of the Lord. I hope that everybody can adjust to the hot weather. Please support the Bay View community.
