What do you like about other cities?
What are some things that you would like to see happen here, that have worked in other places?
I like the Cooperative model of business, which can be seen in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood. Bookstores, grocery stores, bars, collectively owned by residents who live in the area and want to invest in the community but wouldn't have the resources to open their own business. Members buy in, have a say in the way their businesses are run, and benefit from membership with discounts, deals, and sometimes pay-outs.
The National Cooperative Business Association is a good place to look, if you're interested in learning more.
