John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Now that school has begun a new session, you will have to be more careful near schools. No texting or e-mailing should be done while driving. The life you save many be your own or anyone in your way. If you can see everything on the road, then either park your car, or drive when you can see again. Nobody wants to hear about a person being run down on a bicycle or motorcycle. At night, watch out for bikes without lights, as you many be unable to see them and could hit them by accident. Watch for people with dark clothing on at night. They may seem invisible to you while you drive your vehicle. Most of all watch for young children running across the street and near your car. Safety is important to all of us.
