You are all wecome to attend the March meeting of the Humboldt Park 4th of July Association at 7 pm in the park pavilion. We could use some interested people who could add some input to planning of the Independence Day celebration at Humboldt Park. Since 1910, our Association has planned and done all of the work for a July 4th celebration. It was originally called the "Safe and Sane" 4th of July Association. It was organized to provide a full day of activitiies that ended with a professional display of fireworks for all to enjoy. Too many people were being injured or blinded by playing around with fireworks. A safe and sane method of providing a full day of entertainment would eliminate most of the injuries. Throughout the years many methods were employed to keep the day's activities fun and safe for everybody. The games and entertainment has changed over the years. The purpose has remained the same.
Please consider attending this meeting to see if you can be the one giving input and support to our group. We wish to serve at least another generation, but we need more volunteers. Being a volunteer, you can choose the time periods in which you would work and have your choice of assignments. We are getting older and can not do all that we used to do in the past. Please come and join our group and be a new leader. All volunteers are welcome.
