John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 7 pm, in the park pavilion, we will be holding our next meeting of the Humboldt Park 4th of July Association. We could use some more younger members to rebuild our association. Many of our members are getting old. New input and suggestions could help continue our group for the next generation of families to enjoy. We have been in existance since 1910 as the Safe and Sane 4th Association, which later became the Humboldt park 4th of July Association. In the early years many people were injured due to misuse of fireworks. Families got together to form a safe and sane 4th with a full day of activiteis for the entire family ending with a professional display of fireworks for the families to enjoy. We have been volunteering for many years. It is about time that a new younger generation got involved in the planning and preparations for Independence Day at our park. Please consider becoming a member or volunteering on the 4th. We hope to see you at our next meeting.
