Both today and next week Wednesday, at 7 pm, there will be a meeting of the Humboldt park 4th of July Association in the park pavilion. We will be completing our plans for this Independence Day at Humboldt Park. Be a part of history and join us at the meeting. We have been meeting since 1910, when we began as the "Safe and Sane 4th of July Association". We need more members and volunteers who can spend a short time helping us provide a full day of activities for the families of Bay View and surrounding communities. We have a morning parade, morning games, donut eating contest, judging of decorated vehicles of children including bikes, trikes, doll buggies, coaster wagons and other such items. We will later have a parade to the pavilion with the winners and other contestants showing the audience the vehicles of the children. The Jazzy Jewels will perform their act. There will be a dance contest for adults and children on stage afterwards. The Talent Contest will follow. There will be music on stage afterwards. There will be an evening presentation of colors, award winners from the morning activities and from members. The main act with an Elvis Presley impersonator who is great and well known. The day will end with fireworks, including extended fireworks from Jim Wing from W.B. Bottle Company. Have a wonderful Independence Day and please consider volunteering at this great event.
