I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Contract Work Planned for Cudahy Streets

In 2015, the City will embark on major road construction and utility work.  Due to the winter conditions and the late construction start in 2014, the City of Cudahy had to adjust their 2014 construction work plan and bid projects for a 2015 construction schedule.  The first project will be the reconstruction of Packard Avenue from Holmes to Cudahy Avenues.  The project was already bid and awarded by the Cudahy Common Council on June 24, 2014.

Construction on Packard Avenue will include the replacement of the pavement, sidewalk, and street lights, modifications to the signal lights, the addition of a bike land and construction of bio filtration for storm water.  The majority of the funding will be paid through local dollars however, staff has secured a small amount of funding through the State Local Road Improvement program and a Storm Water Grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.

“The rebuilding of our main street is continued commitment by my administration to fix our aging infrastructure,” stated Mayor John Hohenfeldt.  “The Common Council has worked exceptionally well with my administration on the plans to improve our communities infrastructure as shown with the approval of most recent bond and note sales in March and April of 2014.”

Additional road improvement, sanitary sewer and storm water improvements projects were identified within the municipal borrow of 2014 with work on those projects to begin in 2015 through 2017.  Roadway reconstruction projects include Cudahy Avenue reconstruction from Swift to Lake Drive, Barland Avenue pavement, Kirkwood Avenue reconstruction from Grange to Morris, defective sidewalk replacements, and Packard Avenue reconstruction from Cudahy to Lunham Avenue.

Sanitary sewer and water main improvement projects include lateral and main replacements on Lake Drive from Allerton to Cudahy Avenues, Cudahy Avenue from Lake Drive to Swift, Packard Avenue from Cudahy to Lunham Avenues.  Additional storm water improvement projects to reduce flood prone areas have also been funded.
