After a long wait, the St. Francis Brewery has openned up its Beer Garden at Humboldt Park. Beer gardens are very popular in Europe. It is nice that we are going back to our roots and finally returning the beer garden concept to Milwaukee. We used to have a beer garden at Schildknecht's Woods, the present day site of Trowbridge Street School. There used to be a beer garden at the location where the Outpost store is now. These were two of the Bay View beer gardens.
The owner of the beer garden is doing his best to improve the Humboldt Park Pavilion. Its presence there may eliminate some of the park vandalism. It's too bad that Scott Walker came up with his plan to solve the shortage of toilet paper supplies by eliminating over 60% of our park staff workers. He thought that this would save money so he could give his rich friends some benefits. As a result of this, many of our parks are in great need of maintenance. Without proper staffing, many of the park labor needs can't be accomplished.
Vandals have caused the park staff to consider closing the building and its restrooms. Maybe they will provide some Scott Walker outhouses for people to use. ( no toilet paper and no hand soap) Remember the cost of these items are too much due to park vandalism. People should respect their park and try to keep it in the shape that it was in before they use it or make it better. It is a great priviledge to be able to have such parks as we do. Please don't ruin them, only use them as they were made to be used.
