John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Honors Program at Bay View High School
On Thursday, June 5, 2008, the Bay View High School Class of 2008 had their Honors Program. Mr. Donnie Galloway, the Business Education teacher was the Master of Ceremonies. After the students marched in procession in their caps and gowns, they played the National Anthem. Ms. Goss, the Principal, gave the opening remarks.

Tony Martinez Awards: Shendrieka Richardson and Joshua Bagley
After these awards were given out, inside honors were presented to the students. The Class Gift was presented by Misti Smith (Salutorian). Valedictorian Remarks were given by Sara Ward. They then had the Senior Remembrance by the Class Commission. They had a slide show to show pictures of various happenings during their class time at school. This was followed by Acknowledgments/Announcements by Ms. DeMint & Ms. K. Manke. Graduation Instructions/Rehearsal were given by Ms. Goss & Ms. DeMint.
All of these awards and scholarships are available, if enough funding is available, to any graduating student who applies for them and is qualified to receive them. This is great incentive for local students to consider attending Bay View High School, my Alma Mater. This school was started in 1914 and continues to be a great school now. Save the time that you would spend on the bus going to school and attend a local high school. You will have more time for friends and your homework. If you are interested in attending this school, then see Ms. Goss, and she will assist you in your goals.
