John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at 7 PM, in the Humboldt Park Pavilion, the Humboldt Park Watch will be having its June meeting. Anybody interested in joining the park watch is invited and welcome to attend this meeting. Ruth Simos, the President of the Park Watch group, will report on how the annual corn roast fundraiser turned out. She will also report on the award that she received from the "Chill on the Hill" sponsored by the Bay View Neighborhood group. This meeting will give you a chance to see a park watch in action. Your input and presence will be gladly received. This group meets every other month on the second Tuesday of the month in the park pavilion at 7 PM. There is always room for more members to particpate in its activities. Hear a recent report on the condition of Humboldt Park and learn of its problems. Learn about the upcoming Tree Day for the children of Bay View. This event invites 1st to 3rd grade students from the various Bay View schools to see trees being planted, having a field trip in the park to see all of the different trees, and has the children do some inside activities concerning leaves and conservation. If you wish to volunteer at this event, please contact Ruth Simos at 414-483-9330. Ruth Simos will answer any questions that you may have about the Humboldt Park Watch.
