John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
It is at this time time that we think of jokes to play on each other in honor of the day. Here are some imaginary headlines:
The County parks are going to be taken care of now ?
There will be a job fair at City Hall for the jobless?
Due to the loss of value of our properties, property taxes are going down?
Our County Transit System is going to reach more citizens so they can get jobs and seek health care?
Milwaukee County is going to increase the amount of Canadian Geese and add some sheep and goats to keep the grass down to save on labor costs in our County Parks?
Mayor Tom Barrett is going to talk to the people more?
Milwaukee County is finally going to purchase enough toilet tissue for its park facilities?
During future snow storms, we will have enough salt to safely drive our cars?
Pot holes will be eliminated soon?
More Amtrak trains will relieve traffic on Interstate 94 during its reconstruction period?
The KRM train route will be finally established this time?
