1) June 12th is D-Day. D as in Digital. So long ANALOG TV. There are plenty of reasons given for the need to dump analog and legislate and mandate a conversion to the digital — on/off — either/or world of no more static snow but plenty of the annoying (time to reboot) digital artifacting (pixilation aka tiling, screen freezes, out of sync audio (like youtube on a slow connection). Our Federal government has sold our analog broadcast spectrum (which belongs to WE THE PEOPLE) to the big phone companies for a fast TWENTY-BILLION DOLLARS. The new set top boxes that analog viewers are told to buy are "addressable". That means a third party can hack into them and third parties can monitor and control the information sent and received by each box. This “third party” could theoretically decrypt your boxes information just by decoding the electronic field it emits! This opens the door for someone to not only monitor what you're watching, but to censor it. It's all speculation at this point, but given the history of hacking and cracking, it is only a matter of time until some teenager(s) and/or government agency (NSA, FBI, CIA) succeeded in cracking the government mandated DTV boxes. It is still predicted that a couple of a million American households will lose the use of their televisions. And of what value is HD if you cannot afford a new television?
