John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Just think, on June 19th, the South Shore Farmers Market will open up again. With over 40 vendors, this will be the place to be on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 12 noon. South Shore Park Watch is a major partner of the farmers market. The market is located at 2900 S. Shore Drive in Bay View. It will be nice to see the returning faces of the market again. People like to come, buy a coffee and some bakery and sit on a picnic table to relax. First there is an educational program followed afterwards by a musical program. There is no admitance fee to attend the market, but parking is scarce. Here you can look over at Lake Michigan while you shop. Dogs are invited to attend with their owners, while kept on a leash and droppings picked up by owner. There is a web site for the farmers market:
