John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Today, we remember the members of our families and armed forces who have passed on. Our military is the protector of our liberty and everything that we enjoy about our country. Many people have given up their lives for that purpose. We should heartily thank the members of our armed forces for all that they have done, both in the past, now and in the future. This is also a time to remember family members who are no longer with us. These memories run deep in our lives. Take the time to visit a cemetery and see the graves of those who have left us. Pause and honor them. Maybe leave flowers or a U.S. flag on the grave sites. Remember always, as they are now, one day we shall be also. Please celebrate memorial Day as a family.
