Julia "Marguerite" Lacke
Julia "Marguerite" Lacke, formerly of Cudahy, died Feb. 1, 2009, at age 97, at the Carriage House of Steubenville, Ohio.
Born May 31, 1911, on the family farm near Prairie du Chien, she was the 12th and youngest child of the late Milo Fayette and Rebecca Jane (Harris) Nickerson. She was the last remaining member of her family. Marguerite completed teacher training at Platteville State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin-Platteville) in 1931. There she met Charles J. Lacke. They married in 1935. Charles Lacke was superintendent of schools in St. Francis for 18 years.
She is survived by her children, Charles E. (Nancy) Lacke of Libertyville, Ill., Ellyn (Richard) Buhmann of West Allis, Mary Kay Lacke of Steubenville, Rebecca (James) Peelen of Milwaukee, Alice (Richard) Hodges of Wauwatosa, John (Suzanne) Lacke of Oostburg, Mark (Barbara) Lacke of Edgar, Lawrence (Carol) Lacke of Mukwonago and Philip (Nancy) Lacke of Powell, Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and grandson, Matthew Lacke.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in South Milwaukee on Feb. 7. Burial was at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Cudahy. Church & Chapel Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
