Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Homes Hosted a Hugely Successful Honor Guard Appreciation Dinner this Veterans Day Weekend

Milwaukee, WI—On Sunday, November 13, Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Homes hosted an appreciation dinner for local honor guard members and their significant others at Walker’s Maple Grove. With more than 105 people in attendance, the Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Homes staff says the dinner was a booming success.

“We want to thank all of the local honor guard members who came out for the dinner,” says Jeff Kleczka, a Funeral Director at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Homes. “As a Veteran’s Funeral Care provider, we hosted this dinner to show our appreciation to local veterans, and we were thrilled that more than 100 people showed up for the special event.”

Veterans Funeral Care (VFC) was founded to help Veterans and their families with final arrangements. As a VFC provider, the Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Homes staff is trained to handle every detail of making burial and cremation arrangements for veterans.

“We have a great relationship with the gentlemen and ladies from these honor guards, who are members of local American Legion posts or VFW posts,” Kleczka says. The honor guard assists in military honors at the funeral home’s veteran services by supporting active duty Armed Forces personnel. “They assist the active personnel who hold the veteran’s American flag, present it to the spouse or next of kin, provide the firing detail, and play ‘Taps,’” Kleczka explains. “A lot of these honor guard personnel are World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans, and they work completely on a volunteer basis. It’s just such a selfless act on their behalf, and they’ve been doing it for years. In the rain, the snow, the freezing cold, the blistering hot, they are there. We thought hosting a dinner on Veterans Day weekend would be a great opportunity for us to say thank you to them for helping provide meaningful funerals to the veteran families we serve.”
