BATZNER TO PROVIDE PEST CONTROL TIPS AT NARI SHOW; "HISSING HANK" TO APPEAR

Jan. 31, 2013

During the icy cold days of our Wisconsin winters, people don’t usually think about warm weather insects and rodents. But there are preventive measures that people can take now to stop both warm and cold weather pests from invading their homes. “Homeowners can learn these measures first hand while stopping by our educational booth at the upcoming NARI Home Improvement Show,” says Jerry Batzner, president, Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin.

According to Batzner, the event is sponsored by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)-Milwaukee Chapter and will be held at Wisconsin Expo Center at State Fair Park, February 7 - 10. “Our booth #819 is where Batzner professionals will impart this important information.”

Batzner cited some examples of tips to be explained by his employees at their booth:
·
* Many homeowners keep firewood piled next to their homes. Once inside, however, the logs begin to warm to room temperatures, causing insects living inside them to get active. Soon spiders, beetles, and ants will crawl around family rooms, as well as flies buzzing about. The best way to prevent this is to keep woodpiles some distance away from their homes. If logs are to be brought in, use them as soon as possible in the fireplace.
·
* Remove any stone, brick or debris piled closed to your home. These can harbor pests, especially rodents.

* Install chimney caps on fireplaces with uncovered chimney flues. Raccoons, squirrels, birds, bats and other animals will then be prevented from entering the fireplace.
·
* Circle the perimeter of your house and inspect soffit and gable vents, stove hood exhaust vents and dryer vents. Look for damage and evidence of pest problems. Scrutinize fascia boards outside the house, below the roof overhangs for signs of pests. If there are imperfections or gaps with evidence of insect or animal activity, take the necessary action to stop it.

“These are only some of the types of information our professionals will explain in greater detail at the show, states Batzner.

“And for the kids,” he says, “Hissing Hank, our company mascot, will make an appearance at our booth on Saturday, Feb. 9 and on Sunday, Feb. 10, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. each day. He’s one of our employees dressed in a nifty Madagascar Hissing Cockroach costume Both kids and adults should get a kick out of visiting with Hank.”

Recently, the company formed two sister companies: Batzner Bed Bug Services, and Batzner Skilled Contractors. The former specializes in bed bug control, and the latter in repairs that prevent invading pests from entering structures.

The territories for the three Batzner companies include Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin, Madison, and Chicago and northern Illinois. Batzner service centers are located in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Madison, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh and Racine.
