United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities
(February20, 2013) – Waukesha, WI – United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following opportunities:
Childcare, Waukesha
Have fun playing with children! The Parents Place is looking for a volunteer to watch the children of parents attending parenting classes or support groups in the same building. Volunteers are needed in the evening during parenting classes that are being held on Monday thru Thursday between 5:30-8:00pm. A commitment of 2 weeks or more, one night a week or more, is requested. Requirements are as follows: volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old and should attend the site training that is provided. The agency will do background and reference checks on all volunteers.

Between Earth and Sky Journey, Neosho
Be a Girl Scout Event Volunteer and share your passion, have fun, and positively impact girls' lives. Activities are already created and materials are provided. Assist or lead a group of 15-20 girls in grades K-1. ‘Travel can be near, travel can be far, and on our travels you won’t need a car’. Help girls discover natural wonders, play games, and sample a treat as you trek across the United States. Choose one or more of the following event sessions:
Friday, March 1, 5:30-8:00 p.m., Neosho
Saturday, March 2, 9:00-11:30 a.m., Neosho
Saturday, March 2, 12:30-3:00 p.m., Neosho
Events may require additional set up and clean up time, beyond the scheduled event. Staff will provide a detailed confirmation prior to the event. Volunteers must be a minimum age of 18 years old. All volunteers must complete a brief application and background check.

Art Activity Assistant, Waukesha
Donna Lexa Community Art Center is seeking a reliable and friendly individual to assist with art instruction in classes for adults with physical and developmental disabilities at their Art Center. Duties include helping one-on-one with art projects like painting, clay work, drawing, stitching, and beading; but the creativity doesn’t end there! Other tasks include helping the teacher prepare materials before class, and cleaning up after. Classes are 2 hours long and meet Monday through Thursday mornings, afternoons, and evenings Requirements are a minimum of 18 years old, or 16 and 17 with parental consent. A background check is also completed. A commitment to one class a week, or every other week is sought. The students appreciate individuals who have a relaxed and calm attitude in working with special needs.

Pharmacy Assistant, Menomonee Falls:
The pharmacy assistant gathers and packages patient's medications and completes prescription labels for dispensing by the pharmacist, physician or nurse practitioner. They also organize medications in the medication room and takes out the outdated medications monthly. The Community Outreach Health Clinic is located in the Outpatient Care Center at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. Volunteers are needed during clinic hours (5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is no set schedule for volunteering--you can make out your own schedule. Training is provided for all roles. Requirements are as follows: a minimum age of 18 years old and people that like to work with people!
