United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities
(May 30, 2013) – Waukesha, WI – United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following opportunities:
Dining Assistants – The Aging and Disability Resource Center, Various Locations
The Aging and Disability Center is in need of volunteers to help pack meals for home delivery as well as set up, serve and clean up for in-house dining. Volunteers typically work from 9:30a.m.-12:30p.m., once a week or twice a month. The ADRC works around your schedule. Help is needed in the following communities: Butler, Menomonee Falls, Mukwonago, New Berlin, Oconomowoc, Sussex and Waukesha. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older although children ages 14-17 are allowed but must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Fight Blood Cancer! Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – WI Chapter, Various Locations
The Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour will take place on Saturday, July 20 & Sunday, July 21, 2013. The purpose of this event is to raise funds to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Wisconsin Chapter really appreciates your interest and they could definitely use your help. An event of this size would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of volunteers! They need your help filling a number of volunteer positions that are crucial to making this year's Scenic Shore Bike Tour run smoothly. Volunteers are needed to help with food service, loading and unloading luggage, parking assistance, traffic control, rest stop support & more! This event also provides wonderful group volunteer opportunities. They are looking for groups to help with the above activities and to form cheer teams to encourage the riders along the route and at the start and finish line.

Garden Planting at Camp Pow Wow–ARCh, Menomonee Falls
On Saturday, June 1st, ARCh will be planting the summer 2013 garden at ARCh Camp Pow Wow (Located in Menomonee Park in Menomonee Falls). With the assistance of Master Gardener Nina Jones, they look forward to creating the best garden ever, and would be grateful for the assistance of anyone who enjoys digging, planting and watering. This project will get underway at Camp mid-morning, and should finish by early afternoon. Again, help for any amount of time will make a difference!

Wii Like Kareoke Nights – Goodwill Industries, Waukesha
Spend time with adults with special needs at Goodwill Industries’ monthly Wii Like Karaoke Nights. Goodwill is seeking volunteers to assist with making and serving snacks and drinks, and setting up the room for Wii games, card games, and karaoke. Fridays include: May 3, and June 7, from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old, social and mature with a desire to show participants that they are valued. A mandatory 30 minute orientation will be provided prior to your first shift.
