Walk & Run for Wishes to Help Grant more than 20 Wishes
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin will host the 22nd Annual Walk and Run for Wishes this Saturday, August 22nd at 10:00 a.m. starting at the north gate of the Henry Maier Festival Park. Walk & Run for Wishes is a 5K walk, certified run and wheelchair race along Milwaukee’s lakefront. The Foundation is expecting nearly 2,500 people to participate from across the state, including wish families, volunteers and corporate sponsors.
Presenting sponsor, Badger Mutual Insurance Company, will join honorary chairman, FOX 6 Chief Meteorologist, Vince Condella, in a full day of activities to raise money for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin President Patti Gorsky is looking forward to another successful event, but she recognizes that the community support is what keeps the possibility of wish granting alive. “Every year, I am so thankful for the turnout we have from the surrounding communities in our Walk and Run for Wishes,” Gorsky said. “It is because of our dedicated supporters in the community, who come out and enthusiastically represent our mission and its power in a child’s life, that we are able to do this year after year.”
Registration for the event will open at 8:30 a.m. Attendees can join in a raffle drawing, and kids under eight years old can compete in a kid’s dash at 9:30 a.m. The walk and run will begin at 10 a.m. Prizes will also be awarded to individuals and teams who collect the most pledges.
