Cudahy Rugby Club Grows and Improves
After posting an impressive inaugural season record of 3 - 7, the Cudahy Rugby Football Club will expand from one boys' team and add a girls' team. The club, which is based at Cudahy High School, has also launched a website to keep it's supporters and fans updated and informed about club schedules, events, and results.
Last year, the boys' team sported a roster of 25 players, most from Cudahy, but others from St. Francis, West Allis, and Milwaukee also joined. The team is looking forward to another exciting season with an expanded roster and schedule. Despite the size of the club, all team members play at every contest.
One of last year's players is now playing at UW-La Crosse. Abe Sanchez finished his first season at college on the starting side.
A number of girls from Cudahy joined forces with the Oak Creek girls' team last year, but this year have vowed to build their own team. One of those players is Jackie Pugh. She will be taking her experience and heading off to Winona State University to play in fall 2010. Jackie and the rest of her team will be playing seven games this spring.
Any potential players, or their parents, are encourage to check out the new website, http://cudahyrfc.webs.com, and call the Cudahy Recreation department to register. Cudahy residents and school attendees may play for $85, non-residents for $100.
