Thrill-Seekers Line-Up for their “License to Chill”!
Milwaukee, Wis. – While many local families will bundle up in cozy scarves and woolly mittens before stepping outside to brace the blustery winter air, hundreds of others will “jump” into costumes and leap into the sub-zero temperatures of Lake Michigan to get their “License to Chill” at the Special Olympics Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 6, 2010! Plunging will begin around noon at Bradford Beach.
Those who shiver at the thought of icy cold water can sign up as a chicken and observe the chaos from a heated tent sipping hot cocoa. All plungers or chickens must raise $75 to plunge and receive the official plunge t-shirt.
After the plunge, many supporters will attend the post-plunge party and participate in a pie eating contest to raise additional funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Last year, the Milwaukee Polar Plunge raised more than $38,000 for their hometown Special Olympics athletes.
