Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition Sponsors Milwaukee JobFest

Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition Sponsors Milwaukee JobFest

Milwaukee, July 12, 2010 – The Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition hosts Milwaukee JobFest on Thursday, July 29, from 10 am to 3 pm, at State Fair Park Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center, 640 South 84th Street. Milwaukee is recognized as the City of Festivals and what could be better than one focused on job opportunities.

JobFest is an event to celebrate the recruitment of more than 2,000 seasonal jobs available between August and December. Job seekers will have the chance to interview the day of the event for these job opportunities.

Job Seekers should come prepared to complete both paper and on-line applications as part of the interviewing process. Participating employers include: BUYSEASONS, UPS, Marcus Corporation, U.S. Cellular, Quad Graphics, Milwaukee County, Stowell Associates SelectStaff, H & R Block, and Multi-Cultural Community Center representing Bayshore Mall retailers. Participating resource companies include: DeVry University, American Republic Insurance, Jobing.com and Snyder Insurance Agency.

In addition, JobFest will include interactive workshops including: How to Win the On-Line Job Lottery, How to Read Minds During a Job Interview, Developing the Best 30 Second Elevator Speech Contest, and How to Turn a Seasonal Job into a Permanent Opportunity.

Established in 2009, the Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition was created with the purpose of utilizing seasonal employment to advance individuals into permanent employment. The Coalition, managed by Interfaith Older Adult Programs and founded by BUYSEASONS, is made up of many of the Milwaukee area's largest employers and community workforce agencies partnering together to create future opportunities for area job seekers. The Coalition strives to link individuals to year-round employment through a calendar of seasonal hiring.

If you have questions and are interested in more information about JobFest 2010, or if you would like to join us as a recruiter, please contact Pat Delmenhorst at email: pdelmenhorst@interfaithmilw.org.
